Monday Card Sketch FMS 346- Artistically Asian and Tranquil Textures

Focusing on the Artistically Asian stamp set this week, one of my all time favorites.  Today, I have paired it with the gorgeous Tranquil Textures DSP, it is included in the buy 3, get one free DSP sale that ends on 31 July.  The layout is inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #346.

Measurements:
Soft Seafoam Card Base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Whisper White Layer 5 1/4 x 4
Tranquil Testures DSP Strip 1 1/2 x 5 1/4

Ink:
Night of Navy

TIP: I love to stamp on printed paper or DSP.  The key to success is color choice.  For the main image I chose a very light colored background and used a dark ink, Night of Navy.  Always test it first.  You could even go tone-on-tone with that light DSP, using Soft Seafoam ink.

Card Sketch Monday: Delightful Daisy DSP again!!

Each month I participate in at least two card sketch swaps on Swap-Bot.  If you like swapping just about anything, Swap-Bot is the place to go.   I have swapped cards, tea, chocolate, fabric, envelopes, stamps, and dioramas just to name a few things.   Here is a card I made for a swap earlier this month using Freshly Made Sketches archived sketch #59 for inspiration.   Of course, I had to use some Delightful Daisy DSP, my absolute favorite.

Card Measurements:
Night of Navy Card Base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Daffodil Delight Layer  5 3/8 x 4 1/8
Night of Navy Layer 5 1/4 x 4
Delightful Daisy DSP 1 3/4 x 4
Delightful Daisy DSP  1 1/4 square (x4)

TIP:  I used the Delightful Daffodil layer for the scalloped squares accenting the DSP on the car front.  Great way to save on cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tea and Stamps, today.  I hope you enjoyed my version of the Freshly Made Sketches design #59.  I really like Night of Navy and Daffodil delight together,  they make a perfect pair.

Card Sktech Monday: Lots of Layering Love!!

Well, we have had temperatures over a 100 for the last 4 days and more to come this week.  Hopefully, it won't burn up my new lawn.  So what is a girl to do when it is so hot outside?  Stay in the cool and make cards.  For my Card Sketch Monday I decided to play with Angie Juda's Paper and Ink Sketches #20.  You can find Angie's sketch on her Facebook group  page.  This time around I decided to focus on an entire stamp set, Layering Love.  I made four cards using the 2017-2018 In-Colors, Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, Powder Pink and Tranquil Tide. I love the message from this set, these days we all can use a bit more love.

Card Measurements:
Card Base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
DSP Layer 5 1/4 x 4
TIEF Strip 5 1/4 x 2
Whisper White
Tranquil Tide
Powder Pink
Fresh Fig
Berry Burst

TIP: The Fresh Fig and Tranquil Tide ender strips were trimmed to 1 3/4 inches wide.  It looked better with the smaller die cut sentiments.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tea and Stamps, today.  Layering Love is a great stamp set that makes a big statement.   I hope you enjoyed viewing four creations using the Stitched Shapes, Layering Ovals, Layering Squares and Layering Circles Framelits.   FYI: Stampin Up Bonus Days are back for the month of July. Earn in July, Spend in August. Check it out here.

Card Sketch Monday: Artistically Asian with FMS 296

I love the Artistically Asian stamp set.  It is a gorgeous and simplistic, that I think does not get a lot of love from stampers.  It is still available in the current SU catalog and I want to highlight it this week on my blog starting with Freshly Made Sketches challenge #296.

  Card Measurements:
 Pool Party base 5 1/2 x 4 1/
Pool Party layer 3 5/8 x 3 5/8
Whisper White layer  3 1/2 x 3 1/2
Dazzling Diamonds strip 1 x 4

Technique Tip: Stamp off Work of Art  background stamp once before stamping onto the Whisper White layer.  Stamping from bottom to top three time without re-inking allowing the layers to get lighter.   The top stamp is barely visible in the picture.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tea and Stamps, today. I hope you enjoyed viewing my card highlighting my much neglected Artistically Asian stamp set.  The addition of the Dazzling Diamonds Shimmer paper makes it a bit special.  FYI: Stampin Up Bonus Days are back for the month of July. Earn in July, Spend in August. Check it out here.

Card Sketch Monday - Featuring Falling Flowers

On Monday, I try post a sketch challenge to get the creative juices flowing.   This week I am posting a card I made for a Swap-Bot card sketch swap.  For this swap the host chose sketch #99 from the Freshly Made Sketches  (FMS) archives.   I love the FMS blog and I have made cards using their sketches several times.  This sketch was clean and simple just the way I like it.  I masked off an area, added color with the awesome Watercolor Pencils and did a little micro splattering with my Aqua Painter and Basic Black ink pad.  With my background ready I stamped and die cut a few flowers from the May Flowers Framelits and added some (sadly retired) Enamel Dots.  All done!!

Card Measurements:
 Daffodil Delight base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Watercolor layer 5 x 3 3/4
Daffodil Delight flower  2 x 2
Bermuda Bay Flower 2 x 2
Melon Mambo flower 2 x 2

TIP:   I find the best tool to use for masking off an area to color is adhesive notes.  I have tried painters tape, masking tape and Washi tape.  While the others work sometimes, they have a tendency to really stick to the paper and I have had a few (actually many) disappointing results (paper tears).  So I stick with adhesive notes and I stock up when school supplies go on sale or ask for them at Christmas (nice stocking stuffer).

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tea and Stamps, today. I hope you enjoyed viewing my project featuring the fantastic Falling Flowers Stamps and May Flowers Thinlets.

FMS #289 - A Sara Thing (Paper Pumpkin)

Happy Memorial Day!!  It is a glorious day in North Texas to reflect on the service members that were willing and remain willing to sacrifice themselves for the safety and security of others.
Thank-you!!

Today I am playing with the latest Freshly Made Sketches challenge #289.  Once I saw the sketch I knew I had to pull out my April Paper Pumpkin kit, A Sara Thing.  Here is what I came up with today.  This is another color wash card similar to my last post,  this time I used Stampin Up Watercolor Pencils and a wet brush. With the exception of a few embellishments everything I needed to create this card was included in the Paper Pumpkin kit.  How cool is that?

Card Measurements

Basic Black base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Whisper White layer 5 1/4 x 4
DSP and Watercolor layer 3 x 3

TIP: To add subtle splashes of color to my water colored background I dipped the brush in water and then added pigment directly from watercolor pencil to brush.  Then I flicked the bristles with my finger to achieve the desired look.  Here is a close up photo.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tea and Stamps, today. I hope you enjoyed viewing my project featuring A Sara Thing Paper Pumpkin kit.  Paper Pumpkin kits are a great way to get crafty without having to spend lots of money.  Each kit contains all you need to complete each project.  Currently Stampin UP is offering a 25% discount on a 3-month subscription for new enrollees.  Now is a great time to give Paper Pumpkin a try. Card Sketch Monday - Paper and Ink Sketches #1

Hello -
Last week I participated in the inaugural Paper and Ink Sketches challenge hosted by Angie Juda on Facebook.  I have admired Angie's creativity for years and I was so happy to be part of her first sketch challenge.  This challenge was clean and simple, just the way I like them.

I stayed true to the sketch as did many others that posted their creations on Facebook.   It is a great way to use up bits of DSP and ribbon that are hanging around.  Instead of ribbon you could add a coordinating paper border and create a bow with the Bow Builder Punch.  You could even add a matching envelope made with the Envelope Punch Board.  I used the Perfect Pairings stamp set for my sentiments, but any sentiment would work on this card.

I had so much fun making one card that I ended up making six.  I am working on a little box for them as I plan to gift this set to a dear friend and school teacher.  You can check out the other Paper and Ink Sketches cards here on FB.
