Case the Catty: Featuring Falling Flowers Stamps and May Flowers Framelits

A few weeks ago I was looking through my collection of SU catalogs for a card to CASE (Copy and Share Everything). Sometimes I just CASE the layout and there are times when I copy the project in it's entirety. So here is my CAESd card Falling Flowers stamp set and May Flowers Framelits.  I find the catalogs are a great source of inspiration for making cards and other projects.  This is my interpretation of the sample in the catalog.  Although I changed the layout a bit I used similar colors and the same stamps and die cuts.

Card Measurements:
Crushed Curry base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
 white (retired) layer  2 1/2 x 3 1/2
Melon Mambo 3 x 3
 Tempting Turquiose 3 x 3
Old Olive 3 x 3

Inspiration from 2016-2017 Stampin Up Catalog

TIP:  To give the flower extra dimension I used multiple layer of Stampin Dimensionals.   There is one dimensional layer under the Tempting Turquoise flowers.  The Melon Mambo has one layer of dimensionals and is placed on top of the Tempting Turquoise flowers to give a bit more lift. (Hope that is clear.) Also adding the Pearl Basic Jewels  draws you eye to the flowers as well.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tea and Stamps.  I hope you enjoyed my project featuring May Flowers Framelits and Falling Flowers Stamps.   Below is the same card in the 2017-2018 In Colors that made a few weeks ago. You can check it out on my blog here.

Flashback Friday - Gorgeous Grunge

At least once a month I post a Flashback Friday, featuring a new card made with retired SU products.  Don't fret, if you are really interested in any of the retired products featured in this post, I (or your local demonstrator) can try to find the product for you.  Just ask and I will get to work for you.

Today, I am featuring a card I made for a young lady that recently graduated from Burkburnet High school and is preparing to attend UT Austin this fall.  I tried to use UT colors for the card.  The stamp set is Gorgeous Grunge, it was retired 1 June 2017.  It was a very popular stamp set  and it is one I will keep as long as I am stamping.  I love to use it to create bold and subtle backgrounds.  Full disclosure this card was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest last year.

Card Measurements:
Tangerine Tango base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Smoky Slate layer 5 1/4  x 4
Whisper White layer 5 x 3 3/4
Tangerine Tango stars 3 x 3
Silver Glimmer Paper stars 3 x 3

TIP: Use a Stamp-a-ma-jig to ensure the stamps were exactly where I wanted them.  I did not want the lined stamp to appear crooked.  Also, glue dots work best for attaching the Silver Glimmer Paper star to the Tangerine Tango star. (At least that has been my experience).

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tea and Stamps, today for a little glimpse into popular retired products. I hope you enjoyed viewing my project featuring the retired Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and the retired Stars Framelits.  Below are two similar cards I made last year.

DOStamper STARs Thursday Challenge #237: More Wood Words Bundle

Welcome to this weeks DOStamper Stars Thursday "Home Sweet Home" Challenge #237. Again, I am using the Wood Words Bundle for my card.  I just can't get enough of this bundle.

Card Measurement
Night of Navy base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Real Red layer 5 1/4  x 4
Wood Textures DSP 5 1/8 x 3 7/8
Real Red 2 x 2 (4 each)
Night Of Navy  2 x 2 (4 each)
Wood Textures DSS 1 x 1 ( 3 each)

TIP:  I used the Layering Squares Framelits and Stitched Shapes Framelits to create the layered squares on this card.  For the stars I used the 2nd smallest of the Layering Squares Framelits and the Wood Textures DSS, cut the square then stamped the star in Real Red.  One star I die cut with the Wood Crate Framelits star shape and attached it to card with a Stampin Dimensional.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tea and Stamps, today. I hope you enjoyed viewing my project featuring the rustic Wood Words Bundle and the Wood Textures Designer Series Stack.

Card Sketch Monday - Featuring Falling Flowers

On Monday, I try post a sketch challenge to get the creative juices flowing.   This week I am posting a card I made for a Swap-Bot card sketch swap.  For this swap the host chose sketch #99 from the Freshly Made Sketches  (FMS) archives.   I love the FMS blog and I have made cards using their sketches several times.  This sketch was clean and simple just the way I like it.  I masked off an area, added color with the awesome Watercolor Pencils and did a little micro splattering with my Aqua Painter and Basic Black ink pad.  With my background ready I stamped and die cut a few flowers from the May Flowers Framelits and added some (sadly retired) Enamel Dots.  All done!!

Card Measurements:
 Daffodil Delight base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Watercolor layer 5 x 3 3/4
Daffodil Delight flower  2 x 2
Bermuda Bay Flower 2 x 2
Melon Mambo flower 2 x 2

TIP:   I find the best tool to use for masking off an area to color is adhesive notes.  I have tried painters tape, masking tape and Washi tape.  While the others work sometimes, they have a tendency to really stick to the paper and I have had a few (actually many) disappointing results (paper tears).  So I stick with adhesive notes and I stock up when school supplies go on sale or ask for them at Christmas (nice stocking stuffer).

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tea and Stamps, today. I hope you enjoyed viewing my project featuring the fantastic Falling Flowers Stamps and May Flowers Thinlets.

3-D Sunday: Stamped Coasters

I missed posting last week, we were in San Antonio for the Texas State Youth Bowling Tournament and I forgot to take my laptop.  All three of my kids participated this year and the final results will be out on Monday, 6/26.  After the tournament we spent a few days in Austin.  Loved Austin and we plan to visit again.  If you ever go there I suggest Mandola's Italian Market in the Triangle area of Austin -- we ate there twice!  Yummy!!

Here is a very simple project using blank, unfinished tiles.  I picked up my tiles from Michaels Craft Store, a pack of 4 for $3.99, less with 40% off coupon.  Oh so easy!!  Remove any dust from tile, stamp using the archival inks only, I used Stampin Up Basic Black and Basic Gray plus a few others in colors from another company.  Any stamp set will work for this technique it is all about the message you want to create.  To finish I covered the tiles with several coats of Myland's Clear Wax, absolutely love Myland's it is great for craft projects and furniture. No paper or scissors required just ink!!

Background - Gorgeous Grunge
Image & Sentiment - Artistically Asian

 Awesomely Artistic
Background & Sentiment - Basic Gray
Flowers - Basic Black

TIP: To cover tiles with wax I used the following steps:
  • Apply thin layer of wax using brush, let dry about 30 minutes, buff with old cloth
  • Repeat at least 2 to 3 more times
  • Be sure to wax edges
  • I did not wax bottom

Background & Sentiment - Awesomely Artistic
Focal Point - Dragonfly Dreams

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tea and Stamps, today. I hope you enjoyed viewing my stamped tile project featuring the Artistically Asian, Awesomely Artistic and Dragonfly Dreams stamps sets.  This is such and easy project hope you give it a try.

DOStamper STARs Thursday Challenge #235: Wood Words Bundle

Welcome to this weeks DOStamper Stars Thursday "Card Sketch" Challenge #235. This week I am using the Wood Words Bundle for my card.  I love the rustic Wood Words Stamps and the Wood Crate Framelits, so many options with this set.   I bet you are going to like it as much as I do.

Card Measurement
Always Artichoke  base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Cajun Craze layer 5 3/8 x 4 1/8
Wood Textures DSS layer 5 1/4  x 4
Cherry Cobbler 2 x 2
Cajun Craze 2 x 2
Crushed Curry 2 x 2
Always Artichoke 2 x 2
Whisper White scraps for sentiment

 Image may contain: text

TIP:  To give my cards more body and balance I add a Whisper White or Very Vanilla liner cut 5 1/4 x 4 to the inside.   I do this with all my cards, except for cards made with a thick Whisper White or Very Vanilla card base.  I find that by adding the liner the card feels more balanced in my hand, especially if I have several layer of cardstock on the front.  It also adds a space for writing on a card made with a darker color of cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tea and Stamps, today. I hope you enjoyed viewing my project featuring the rustic Wood Words Bundle and the Wood Textures Designer Series Stack.
