Cottonball Background Card

Hey Crafty Friends!!  How about using cottonballs and ink to create a simple and interesting background?  I did and it was easy, fun, fast and very satisfying.


Card Details
  • Paper 
    • Coastal Cabana card base 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", score and fold at 4 1/4"
    • Mango Melody layer 4 3/4" x 3 1/2"
    • Melon Mambo layer 4 5/8" x 3 3/8"
    • Whisper White colored layer 4 1/2" x 3 1/4", 1/2 sheet for daisy

Tip: I cannot stress enough how easy this is, there is no wrong way to color paper with cottonballs.  Click here to see me demonstrating how I created this card in a Facebook video.  Fast forward to 13 minute mark and please disregard my husband and daughter arguing in the background.  Shelter in place has made us all a bit crazy. 


Here was my set up when I first giave it a try.  Four ink pads and four big cottonballs. This would be fun with little kids.



I used the Stamparatus to stamp over the cottonaball background with the All Wired Up Stamp and Basic Gray ink.  The sentiment was stamped in Basic Gray and again in Versa Mark using the Stamparatus.  The I finished it off with Clear Emboss Powder and the Heat Tool.


For this card I used Soft Sea Foam, Balmy Blue, So Saffron and Petal Pink ink and cardstock.  The Crackle Stamp (retiring soon) was used to finish this background with Basic Gray ink. 


This technique even works with a more masculine color pallette like Pretty Peacock, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake and Pool Party.  No backgound stamp needed for this one.

Peaceful Poppies DSP Swap Card

Hey Crafty Friends!!  Peaceful Poppies has to be some of the prettiest paper Stampin' Up! has ever sold.  Sadly, it is retiring and is only available until  2 June, 2020 or while supplies last.  Also the graphics on this paper make great cards, I was able to make 6 cards from on 12 x 12 sheet, exactly what I needed for the 6x6x6 Swap.

3DOswts337 - Saying Goodbye to Painted Harvest

Hey Crafty Friends!!  It is that time of year to say goodbye to some favorites in my stamping collection.  Painted Harvest has been a favorite since the first time I saw and if you look it up on Pinterest, lots of people loved it.

Tip: I completed all the stamping then die cut the focal image.  I also stamped the leaf image in Old Olive to give the paper some visual interest.



My card layout was inspired by a sketch and the colors were inspired by the #keppstamping color challenge from Stampin' Up!.  I used three of the colors in my card today.   Lots of wonderful items are retiring, be sure to get your favorites before they are gone.
