#DOswts385 - STARS Inspiration Hop - Neutrals Masculine Birthday Card

Hey Crafty Friends!!! It is time for another STARS Bi-Monthly blog hop, this month the theme is Mom or Dad.  I choose to make a masculine birthday card using the Scrappy Strip method and Stampin' Up!'s  Neutral Color palette.  Be sure to scroll down and visit the other blogs in the hop. 

Card Details

• Merry Merlot CS card base - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", score and fold at 4 1/4"
• Merry Merlot CS layer - 5 1/4" x 4"
• Home & Hearth DSP strips - 5 1/4" x 4", cut into 9 strips 
• Basic White CS sentiment - scrap

Tip: The DSP is used has a wood grain pattern.  As I cut the DSP  I kept the pieces in order and colored them lightly with blending brushes using Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Gray Granite, Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Early Espresso.

Tip: How to build the top layer

1. Lightly sponge top portion of Whisper White CS with Balmy Blue ink.  Stamp mountains in Smoky Slate and stamp a row of trees in Old Olive ink.  Add a few birds in the sky if desired.
2. On the 2nd piece of Whisper White CS stamp a row of trees with Old Olive ink and die cut.  Then glue die cut layer to the sky layer and trim off excess, should measure 5" long. 
3. Sponge Old Olive along stamped tree line and lightly sponge Soft Suede on bottom portion blending upward. Stamp trees and sentiment in Mossy Meadow.
