3-D Sunday: Stamped Coasters

I missed posting last week, we were in San Antonio for the Texas State Youth Bowling Tournament and I forgot to take my laptop.  All three of my kids participated this year and the final results will be out on Monday, 6/26.  After the tournament we spent a few days in Austin.  Loved Austin and we plan to visit again.  If you ever go there I suggest Mandola's Italian Market in the Triangle area of Austin -- we ate there twice!  Yummy!!

Here is a very simple project using blank, unfinished tiles.  I picked up my tiles from Michaels Craft Store, a pack of 4 for $3.99, less with 40% off coupon.  Oh so easy!!  Remove any dust from tile, stamp using the archival inks only, I used Stampin Up Basic Black and Basic Gray plus a few others in colors from another company.  Any stamp set will work for this technique it is all about the message you want to create.  To finish I covered the tiles with several coats of Myland's Clear Wax, absolutely love Myland's it is great for craft projects and furniture. No paper or scissors required just ink!!

Background - Gorgeous Grunge
Image & Sentiment - Artistically Asian

 Awesomely Artistic
Background & Sentiment - Basic Gray
Flowers - Basic Black

TIP: To cover tiles with wax I used the following steps:
  • Apply thin layer of wax using brush, let dry about 30 minutes, buff with old cloth
  • Repeat at least 2 to 3 more times
  • Be sure to wax edges
  • I did not wax bottom

Background & Sentiment - Awesomely Artistic
Focal Point - Dragonfly Dreams

Dragonfly Dreams Set - Catalog Favorite

Stampin Up introduced Dragonfly Dreams in the Occasions Catalog earlier this year and I was so happy that it was carried over into the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog.  It is one of my favorite stamps and Thinlet Dies.  It is one of those stamp sets that I will keep forever, it is truly timeless.  I made a card set with coordinating tote and donated it to a local business for their 30th anniversary giveaway.

Card Measurements:
 Smoky Slate  base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Blushing Bride layer 4 x 5 1/4
Whisper White Layer 3 3/4 x 5
Blushing Bride 4 x4 for Dragonfly

TIP:  I cut a piece of copy paper same size as Whisper White layer to create a mask using the Layering Ovals Framelits.   I used Smoky Slate, Blushing Bride and Pink Pirouette to create the background with the Timeless Textures stamp set.  To learn more about this technique check out this video on You Tube.   Thanks to Kim Williams inspiration for this card and a great video tutorial.

Coordinating Tote

This tote was designed by LeeAnn Greff and her instruction video has been up on You Tube since August 2015.  It is so easy to make, this is my third one and it is a perfect tote for my cards.  The cardstock is Rich Razzleberry, the DSP and Brads are retired, the sentiment is from a past Paper Pumpkin kit.  I have seen this tote decorated so may ways on Pinterest, it is so versatile.  Just jump in and make one today!!

DOStamper STARS Thursday Challenge #227: Sketch Pad Challenge featuring Dragonfly Dreams

Welcome to this weeks DOStamper Stars Thursday Sketch Pad Challenge.  I have been absent for several weeks and it feels good to get back into card making with the STARS.  This week my card is featuring the beautiful Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.  The dragonfly is stamped onto vellum and embossed with clear powder, a technique I just learned about.  The background behind the dragonfly is stamped onto white cardstock that is overlayed with the embossed vellum.

  • Start with 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Basic Black cardstock folded in half for card base
  • Stamped a piece of 3 3/4 x 4 Vellum with Crushed Curry ink and embossed with Clear Emboss Powder (Thanks, Miriam Bollanger for the tip)
  • Use the background stamp and Crushed Curry ink to randomly stamp 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 Whisper White cardstock.  Be careful to stay at least a half inch from edges of paper.
  • Use Fast Fuse to attach embossed vellum to the Whisper White cardstock (apply adhesive to corners only).
  • Attach 1/2 inch Crushed Curry strips to sides and overlap with 3/4 inch Basic Black strips
  • Stamp sentiment in Basic Black Archival ink attach with Stampin Dimensionals.
  • Add favorite flowers, I chose Petite Petals and enamel dots for embellishments.
  • Use Tombow Multipurpose glue to adhere layer to card base   All done!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Tea and Stamps, today. I hope you enjoyed viewing my project featuring Dragonfly Dreams stamped and embossed on vellum with colored ink. If you would like learn more about the technique I used  leave me a comment and you can also "Follow by Email" to keep up with my latest creations.
