Envelope Folio and Journal - Gift for Friend Travelling Abroad

Happy Easter Weekend Crafty Friends!!! Today I am sharing a Travel Folio with Journal that I made for my friend and neighbor for her upcoming Mediterranean Cruise that is 17 days.   I wanted to make her something that she could use to record her journey and save any little bits she collects.  The pandemic delayed this cruise twice, so you can imagine how excited she is to finally be going.   I look forward to hearing all about her adventure when she returns. 


5 3/4" x 9 Envelope Folio covered with DSP

Folio and Journal Details
  • Folio 
    • Base - two 9" x 5 3/4" kraft envelopes (buy on Amazon or local office supply)
    • Waves of the Ocean DSP - measure each section and cut to size
    • Sailing Home & Friends Are Like Seashells stamps 
    • Smooth Sailing and Tasteful Labels dies
  • Journal 
    • Base - 10" x 7" Waves of Ocean DSP, scored and folded at 5" 
    • Ink and tea dyed copy paper measuring 9 5/8" and  6 3/4" (folded in half, not scored)
    • Linen thread to secure papers (signature) into cover (apply beeswax before sewing)
    • Additional DSP scraps for a tuck, a pocket and spine cover
  • Extra Stuff 
    • Large sewing needle for signature 
    • Beeswax for linen thread
    • Copy paper for custom journal label 
    • Velcro for closure

#DOswts384 Sketch Inspiration Hop featuring Abstract Beauty Products

 


Hey Crafty Friends!!  It's another STARS bi-monthly Sketch Inspiration Hop.  Today, I am sharing a card made with some products from the Abstract Beauty Suite, page 48-50 of Jan-Jun Mini Catalog.  The Hello Beautiful stamps for my sentiment, two coordinating pieces of  Abstract Beauty DSP, and some subtle bling with the Adhesive Backed Hexagons.  Creating from a sketch is one of my favorite ways to make a card.  


Card Instructions     
  1. Start with Just Jade CS card base cut 11" x 4 1/4", scored and folded at 5 1/2".
  2. Add 5 1/4" x 4 " Magenta Madness CS layer to card base with glue.
  3. Cut DSP one of the solid DSP colors 1 1/8 x 4 5/8".  Cut a coordinating piece of DSP 4 1/2" x 1" and attach to solid DSP layer and glue them together.  
  4. Cut Basic White CS 5" x 3 3/4", attach DSP strip to left side and then glue white layer onto card base. 
  5. Cut 3 squares of solid DSP 1/18" x 1 1/8" and three of another color DSP 1" x 1" and glue together.  Attach to card front as pictured with dimensionals. 
  6. Stamp sentiment in Just Jade ink and squiggle figure in Magenta Madness.
  7. Add desired number of Adhesive Backed Hexagons.

Crafty Collaborations Bloghop - March Paper Pumpkin Kit , Beyond the Horizon Alternatives

 



Hey Crafty Friends!!! We are having weird weather in Texas again. On Tuesday I turned on the AC, well now it is Friday and the heat is back on. Tomorrow is the temps are supposed to hit 90. Ugh. Anyway, today I am sharing an alternative card from March Paper Pumpkin kit, Beyond the Horizon, perhaps one of my all time favorite kits to date. There is a video demonstrating a version of this card, it was so easy peasy - I mean everything you need is in the box. I did add some Misty Moonlight and Basic White CS, but that was all.

 

Card Details
  • Misty Moonlight CS card base - 11" x 4 1/4", score and fold at 5 1/2"
  • Kit deconstructed envelope - 3 1/2" x 5" and 3/4" x 5
  • Basic White CS liner - 4" x 5 1/4" 
  • Kit die cut elements and ink
