3D Thursday - Vellum Butterflies

Hey Crafty Friends!!!  Today I am sharing my first 3D Thursday Project, Vellum Butterflies.  I made the first one for my sister-in-laws birthday and I did not plan to make more, but well you know how that goes.  It was an easy project and I wanted to share how I got it all together.  


Project Measurements

  • Paper 
    • Base CS 8" x 8"
    • Gold Foil Layer 6 1/2" x 6 1/2"
    • Shimmery White Accent Layer  6 1/4" x 6 1/4"
    • Die Cut Layer 6" x 6"
    • Vellum 1/2 Sheet 
    • Frame 8" x 8" Shadow Box Frame from Michael's 

Tip:  Use blender brushes to color vellum, then apply Multipurpose Glue in random patterns over vellum and let dry.  Once glue is clear and sticky apply Gilded Leafing.  Die cut individual butterflies.   Vellum can also be colored using Stampin' Blends and rubbing alcohol. 













Secure the vellum butterflies onto the Shimmery White cardstock with glue dots or a bit of Stampin' Seal.  The vellum with naturally roll up a bit so a shadow box style frame is best for this project.
